Defense Force: Heroes by The Hour Chap 9

On their way back out of the office, they noticed that the crowd had grown.
“Last chance on the sunglasses,” Tommy jokingly suggested once more.
“Like you said not many people know I am, it is like I have a secret identity even though I don’t hide it.” Tabitha adjusted her glasses.
“OH BEHOLD MY FELLOW MEMBERS OF THE LONG DEAD MIDDLE CLASS! THERE IS ONE OF THE MURDERS OF OUR SOCIAL CLASS, or as they like to be called a one percenter, TABITHA LANNING!” The leader of this ‘peaceful’ assembly screamed over his megaphone. It was as if he knew that this would change the situation from a soft boil to raging inferno, because almost immediately, members of the gathering broke off and raced towards the young teens.
“Uh, oh,” Tabitha commented as she and Tommy began running away from the gang. Looking back they saw many of them getting weapons, mostly rocks and chunks of concrete, but a few did manage to pick up some pipes out of a truck.
“I knew you should’ve taken me up on those sunglasses!” Tommy shouted as they turned down an alleyway.
“Shit dead end,” they shouted in unison. They checked the doors, only to find them locked.
“How the hell did we make a wrong turn when we walk this area nearly every day,” Tommy shouted/asked nervously as the gang closed in on them.
“Because fear makes people idiots,” Tabitha answered with a smartass attitude, but the fear had corrupted her voice. The protestors turned rioters began their assault throwing their rocks at Tabitha, two hit her face, making her bleed almost instantly. Trying to make sure she had more proof she pulled out her camera phone and prayed that it wouldn’t get broken. Tommy jumped in front of his friend, getting a rock to gut for his troubles, but then his golden eyes began to glow. As if instinct took over the teen boy, he threw his hands up in front of his body, and a golden aura encircled them. The rocks and concrete chucks stopped in their paths from the hands of the aggressors. “What the?” The people who felt cheated in life looked at each other, but then proceeded to scream and run when their projectile weapons began to come back at them with more force than they originally put forth. Even the ones with pipes turned away when they saw what was happening to their associates. Once the attackers fled, Tommy’s eyes and hands returned to normal.
“Woah,” Tommy commented looking his brown flesh over curiously. Tabitha blinked twice to recompose herself from the shock that came with the attack and Tommy’s sudden control over the thrown objects.
“Okay time to head back to lab there buddy boy.” She said putting the phone away.
